Little R Is Seven Months Old

Little R is now seven months old, which surprisingly made me feel a little bit sad. Her first year is halfway over (sob)! She has become really active now, and although she still can't crawl (one leg just won't cooperate), it's only a matter of time until she becomes fully mobile. Her baby days are slowly coming to a close as she works on becoming a toddler. It's really exciting and interesting, and on the whole I like her much better this way: but I miss the sleepy tiny baby days sometimes.

She continues to be a social, friendly baby, and everyone always comments on how happy and good-tempered she is. It would be nice if I could take credit for this ("I'm such a good mother!") but the truth is, it's just her temperament and personality. She is rarely in a bad mood, and her reaction to change or the unusual is interest. She is attached to both her father and me (especially me, unsurprisingly), and also makes distinctions between other people that she knows. She even recognized her grandparents upon seeing them after a two month gap.

Physically, she can pull herself up to a standing position with support, roll or inch along to get places, do a half-somersault (roll herself from upright to on her belly), grab and manipulate pretty much everything in her vicinity, and arrange herself in a crawl position (though she can't move forward yet). She is still a good sleeper although she has given up her third nap for the most part, and now takes 2 per day. Each nap is longer though, so her total sleep time is similar.

Things I Could Do Without: Trying to lunge suddenly off high surfaces in order to get something interesting; screaming when I take away something you aren't supposed to have (you used to not care).

Item/Toy You Love the Most: Non-toy items: straws, pieces of paper, the portable bicycle pump, spoons, the spatula,, my house slippers; you don't really like any actual toys at the moment.
Things I'm Loving Most Right Now: All your vocalizations (the last two days you have been growling for minutes at a time, making you sound like a little dragon); your pride in your new physical skills (so cute!); that you are obviously learning and remembering things; your interest in the world around you
